In April 2026, the Nittenau Fire Department was dispatched a total of seven times. The range of incidents extended from a small animal rescue to serious road traffic accidents. Our First Responder unit was also heavily involved, responding to a total of 30 calls.
Together with the Bergham Fire Department, we responded twice to a local industrial facility after the fire alarm system had been triggered accidentally. In another joint operation with the Bergham Fire Department, we illuminated a landing zone for a rescue helicopter.
A small animal rescue involving a dog that was reportedly trapped inside an overheated vehicle fortunately turned out to be an unnecessary concern raised by an attentive citizen. Upon our arrival, the owner had already returned to the vehicle, and the dog greeted us enthusiastically nonetheless.
Several, in some cases serious, traffic accidents occurred on the B16 near Walderbach. At these incidents, we secured the accident scenes using our traffic safety trailer.
Our rope rescue and fall protection unit also carried out a special training exercise at a nearby construction site. The exercise included securing operations on a tower crane as well as practical work on scaffolding.
In addition to the regular training sessions involving vehicles and equipment, the semi-annual CPR recertification was also part of the training schedule.
