Emergency Operations
In February 2026, the Nittenau Volunteer Fire Department was alerted to 10 incidents despite the short month. In addition, the First Responder team was dispatched 30 times to provide initial medical assistance.
The month began with a traffic accident on the B16 in the district of Cham, where a car ended up in a ditch. We supported our colleagues from the neighboring district and took over traffic control using our traffic safety trailer. A small oil spill and assistance for the emergency medical service during a patient transport were also among the incidents in February.
During the carnival parades in Nittenau and Fischbach, we once again provided traffic control and safety measures together with other fire departments from the municipal area.
Heavy rainfall also left its mark in Nittenau. Flooding led to several operations. Fortunately, the situation caused only minor damage, and we recorded three flood-related incidents in February 2026.
At the end of the month, we were once again dispatched to the neighboring district of Cham. A container filled with combustible materials, located inside a barn, had caught fire. The fire was quickly brought under control, preventing further damage.
Fire Department Activities
Two traditional events once again took place within our fire department this month: the Kesselfleisch dinner and the Ash Wednesday fish dinner. Both events are a great opportunity each year to strengthen camaraderie and friendship within the fire department while enjoying good food and conversations.
There was also a strong focus on training and further education. Four different training topics were part of the weekly exercises:
- Medical training: Vascular emergency
- Technical rescue skills exercise
- Winter training: Wildland firefighting
- Knots and hitches
News from the Junior Firefighters
Our junior firefighters once again participated in the carnival parades in Nittenau and Fischbach this year. The group proudly presented their self-built and painted parade float.
This year’s theme was “Racing Drivers.” Despite the bad weather, everyone involved had a great time. For our youth members, it was a welcome change from regular fire department activities and another great shared experience.
