Fire Department Operations
June 2026 brought the Nittenau Fire Department a total of 15 calls, the same number as in May. The First Responder team was additionally alerted 37 times.
The fire department calls were divided into five fires and ten technical assistance operations.
The month began with traffic control following an accident on the B16. Fortunately, a more serious outcome was avoided. Two additional traffic safety operations were also on the schedule: one during the Corpus Christi procession and one for the Nittenau Volksfest parade.
Three traffic accidents, two of them involving motorcycles, also required the assistance of our emergency crews. In addition, two traffic accidents were reported by automatic eCall systems. Both reports turned out to be false alarms. However, these were not the only false alarms in June: an activated fire alarm system, a reported room fire, and a suspected forest fire also fell into this category.
Another false alarm occurred when a concerned citizen saw a St. John’s bonfire from a distance and was unaware that it was an officially registered fire. Later that same night, however, we were called to the same scene a second time to extinguish the fire.
Despite the very hot temperatures, the Nittenau Fire Department was fortunately spared from any forest or vegetation fires in June.
Fire Department Life
June also offered a full programme in the area of training and continuing education. Two interesting training topics were part of the weekly drill schedule:
- Technical rescue
- Pump operator training
As in previous years, the Nittenau Fire Department once again took part in the traditional Corpus Christi procession. Afterwards, we visited our neighbours, the local shooting club, for a shared bratwurst meal, continuing a long-standing tradition.
Another highlight in June was this year’s Volksfest. Despite the bad weather, we took part in the Volksfest parade and afterwards enjoyed a few pleasant hours together.
