Monthly Review – April 2025

Firefighting, Ladder Rescues and Gas Alarm – A Busy April.

Emergency Operations in April

The Volunteer Fire Department of the City of Nittenau was dispatched a total of eight times in April.

This month, fire incidents and technical assistance operations were fairly balanced. For example, we were called out for two aerial ladder rescues outside the city area to support the emergency medical services and local fire departments. We also responded to a traffic accident and a car fire. Further incidents included an animal rescue, a dishwasher fire, and a triggered fire alarm system.

At the end of the month, we were dispatched to a suspected gas leak in a residential building – fortunately, it turned out to be a false alarm.

Our first responder team was also highly active in April, providing first aid in 31 emergency cases.

Insights into Fire Department Life

We kicked off April in a relaxed way with a spring barbecue – because camaraderie and team bonding are just as important as operations and training.

A major highlight followed on April 5, 2025: the ECMO training event in cooperation with the University Hospital of Regensburg. It was an informative and well-organized event, offering great value to all participants.

As always, firefighting training wasn’t neglected either. This month focused on reviewing essential fundamentals. Sessions included radio communications (BOS radio), first aid training, and a driver safety course.

Youth Fire Department in Action

Our youth fire brigade was also very active and took part in the city-wide initiative “Clean Landscape”. With this effort, the young members contributed meaningfully to environmental protection in Nittenau.
