Monthly Review January 2026

Fire Department Nittenau Ready from Day One: January 2026 in Review.

The Nittenau Volunteer Fire Department started the new year almost without a break. As early as January 2026, we were already dispatched to the first six emergency operations of the year. From technical assistance operations to fire incidents, once again everything was included. Our First Responder team was also heavily involved, responding to 30 emergency calls.

On the very first day of the year, we were alerted to a trash container fire at a residential building in the district of Asang. Thanks to the rapid response of our colleagues from Wald, the fire was quickly extinguished and more serious damage was prevented. However, this was not the only fire incident that month: we were additionally dispatched to two inter-municipal garage fires, where we supported firefighting operations with our aerial ladder.

In the area of technical assistance, one operation involved providing stretcher assistance to support the emergency medical services. Another call required a patient rescue using an aerial ladder in the neighboring district of Regensburg, where we assisted the local Adlmannstein Fire Department.

Unfortunately, January also saw a serious traffic accident on the B16 between Nittenau and Walderbach, in which one person succumbed to their injuries and passed away at the scene. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the bereaved family members.

Daily Fire Department Life

January was also a busy month in terms of training activities. After all, we aim to start the new year just as successfully as we finished the previous one. Training topics included tactical ventilation and micro technical rescue (machinery accidents). In addition, an active members’ meeting was held.

We also did not miss the opportunity to attend the traditional comradeship evening of the Neuhaus Fire Department. Toward the end of the month, some of our active members visited the firefighters’ ball hosted by our colleagues from Bergham. We would like to thank both departments for two thoroughly enjoyable evenings and their excellent organization.

The winter conditions were also used to strengthen camaraderie: members met as often as possible for ice stock sport, and our junior firefighters took advantage of the weather for shared sledding activities.

All in all, it was a successful start to the year 2026.
