Operations of the Nittenau Fire Department
In May 2025, the Volunteer Fire Department of the City of Nittenau handled a total of nine operations. Our First Responder team was once again heavily involved and was alerted 33 times.
The month began with a search for a missing person, which fortunately ended positively after several hours. This was followed by road cleanup and the fire of a field chopper on the B16 highway in the Cham district, where we assisted local fire departments with traffic control.
Three particularly intense days of operations in a row tested our strength this month:
It began with a car accident on the B16, involving a single vehicle – fortunately without serious consequences.
The following day, we secured the traditional fair parade in Nittenau, and less than an hour later we were called out to secure a helicopter landing.
That same night, we performed a ladder rescue in support of emergency medical services, and later that afternoon, we were dispatched to an eCall without voice response, which turned out to be a false alarm.
We ended the month with another ladder rescue in a neighboring town.
Insights into Fire Department Life – Training & Community
At the beginning of the month, a joint emergency drill across district borders was conducted – together with the fire departments of Lambertsneukirchen, Hackenberg, and Hauzendorf.
On the training side, two key topics were covered:
A session on Psychosocial Emergency Care (PSNV) and a training course on forest and vegetation fires.
Because training and continuing education are essential to our mission, several members also attended specialized courses, including for aerial ladder operators and fall protection techniques.
Our community and club life was also very active this month:
On May 3, we participated in the Florian Day celebration during the anniversary event of the Neuenschwand Fire Department – a very successful and enjoyable event.
An active members’ assembly followed the next week.
As in every year, we took part in the city of Nittenau’s fair parade, spending a few joyful hours together.
A highlight of the month was a shared roast pig dinner on a Saturday.
To round off the month, some of our members went on the traditional Father’s Day hike.
Conclusion:
May was a successful, eventful, and demanding month for the Nittenau Fire Department – shaped by operations, training, and strong team spirit.
