24-Hour Fire Station Day 2025

A Real Highlight for Nittenau’s junior firefighters.

For one day, the young members of the Nittenau Fire Department’s junior firefighters got to experience what it feels like to be a professional firefighter. During the traditional 24-Hour Fire Station Day on October 3 and 4, 2025, action and teamwork were at the center of the event.

Right after the official start of duty at 2:00 p.m., the first alarm was triggered: “B3 – Car fire next to a building.” The team set up two hose lines and used foam (simulated with soap and water) to extinguish the fire. The exercise ended with a cheerful foam party.

Exercises and missions around the clock

After a short real emergency, the next scenarios followed: a scooter accident and a tree blocking the road. The evening continued with a missing person search in Harting. Four individuals had disappeared into the forest after an argument. With the help of the search and rescue dog unit and human chains, everyone was safely found and cared for.

At midnight, another alarm sounded — but this time it was a birthday surprise. Two youth members celebrated with cake and a birthday serenade before heading to bed.

Realistic training in the morning

The new day began with morning exercise, followed by a construction accident simulation involving a trapped worker with an impalement injury. The task was to free, stabilize, and provide first aid as quickly as possible.

Further training included outdoor smoke development, turntable ladder rescue, and a tractor rescue.

The grand finale was a major simulated traffic accident with multiple injuries. The car was stabilized, access created, and patients treated before being handed over to the BRK Nittenau emergency medical team.

A big thank you to all supporters

At the end of the shift, all vehicles and equipment were cleaned and made ready for service again.

A big thank you goes to all helpers, drivers, team leaders, the make-up team, and the BRK Nittenau unit for their support with emergency vehicles and facilities. Special thanks also go to Rätz company and ADAC Stadler in Wald for their generous assistance.

This event would not have been possible without the support of local businesses and private individuals.
A heartfelt thank you goes to our youth fire brigade leadership team, who once again organized an unforgettable Fire Station Day in 2025.
