Emergency call-outs
September 2026 was relatively quiet, at least in terms of emergency call-outs. Nittenau Fire Department was called out ten times. The First Responder team was alerted 29 times.
As in previous months, fire alarm systems were triggered in September, on four occasions this time. All cases were caused by a technical fault. After an inspection, the respective system was switched off; no further action was required.
The department was also alerted to a suspected house fire. The cause was a chimney emitting too much smoke. No action was required. In one smoke-filled apartment, where food had burned, the apartment was ventilated using a positive-pressure fan. Fortunately, more serious consequences were avoided.
Three traffic accidents occurred in September: two on the B16 and one within the town. Each resulted in property damage only.
The department was also alerted to an aerial ladder rescue to support the emergency medical services.
Fire department life
This week’s training programme included a session for the First Responder on “Gynaecological emergencies”.
There was also plenty happening in the association’s activities in September. The month began with the annual Italian Evening. Members of the Nordheim Fire Department also visited that weekend. A joint social evening for department members was held on Friday and was a great success.
The department provided catering at the City of Nittenau’s first Care and Inclusion Forum.
Another happy occasion: the First Responder service turned 25. The anniversary was celebrated internally with a Weißwurst breakfast and several speeches.
Junior firefighters
It was also a busy month for the junior firefighters. First came the holiday programme, followed by the 24-hour professional fire department day. A detailed report will follow.
