Monthly Review – September 2025

Operations, training, and teamwork: Monthly review of the Nittenau Fire Department.

Emergency Operations

Six emergency operations kept the Nittenau Fire Department busy in September 2025. They were divided into three fire incidents and three technical assistance missions.
The fire incidents involved triggered fire alarm systems, all of which turned out to be false alarms after a thorough inspection of the buildings.

The technical assistance missions included one apartment opening and two traffic accidents. One of these was a serious collision on Federal Road B16, involving three vehicles – including a truck. The operation lasted the entire afternoon. Together with the Bergham Fire Department, we secured the accident site, ensured fire protection, cared for the injured, and rescued one person from their vehicle using a crash rescue. In total, four people were injured, one of whom sadly succumbed to their severe injuries at the scene. Our sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased.

Our First Responder team was also frequently on duty in September, handling 31 medical emergencies throughout the month.

Fire Department Life: Training, Camaraderie, and Tradition

The topic of training was also prominent in September. Weekly training sessions covered various subjects, including the correct use of portable ladders.

A special highlight was an intensive training day at the Regensburg Fire Academy, where our firefighters could further prepare for a range of operational scenarios. In addition, one of our members successfully completed the breathing apparatus training course – congratulations!

Camaraderie also played a big role this month. As every year in September, we hosted our popular Italian Evening. The event was a great success – with delicious food, many visitors, and a fantastic atmosphere.

Another memorable moment was the wedding of our firefighter Michael Wächter and his bride Selina. Of course, we formed a traditional honor guard and gave the newlyweds a symbolic “ride to the sky” with our aerial ladder.

To round off the month, we visited our friends from the Nordheim Volunteer Fire Department (municipality of Biblis). Since their visit to Nittenau last year, a strong friendship and partnership has developed between our departments – something we truly value. We are already looking forward to the next reunion!

All in all, September 2025 came to a positive and heartfelt close for the Nittenau Fire Department – filled with dedication, teamwork, and friendship.
