Monthly Review - October 2025

Dedicated Nittenau Fire Department: Operations, training, and youth development in October.

Operations

In October 2025, the Nittenau Volunteer Fire Department was alerted a total of nine times. Once again, our First Responder team was particularly busy, responding to 29 emergency medical calls.

The fire department’s operations included two traffic accidents, one of which was caused by a wildlife collision. During the second incident, we assisted our fellow firefighters from the neighboring district of Cham and took over traffic control on the B16.

We were also called to an activated fire alarm system, a turntable ladder rescue, and a door opening. Fortunately, no intervention was necessary in any of these cases.

The final operation of the month took us to a basement fire in Stefling, where greater damage could be prevented thanks to the quick response of our team. The fire was caused by the heating system.

Fire Department Life

The month began with a joyful event:
Our third commander, Markus Hochmuth, and our deputy chairwoman, Rebekka Haschke, welcomed the birth of their second child. As tradition demands, our team celebrated by putting up a “baby tree.”

The month was also busy in terms of training and education. Whether it was the turntable ladder operator training, the MTA final examination, or the breathing apparatus maintenance course – our active members showed great dedication.

During the weekly drills, three different training topics were covered:

  • Deployment of the rescue air cushion
  • Firefighting in chemical protective suits (CSA)
  • Technical rescue involving a car (use of hydraulic cutters and spreaders)

Junior firefighters – Ready for the Future

A special highlight for our junior firefighters took place at the beginning of October: the 24-hour professional fire department day.
